HOW STARLINK INTERNET WORKS

HOW STARLINK INTERNET WORKS

Starlink is a satellite internet service by SpaceX that uses thousands of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to deliver high-speed internet anywhere on Earth.

THE JOURNEY OF YOUR INTERNET

1. YOU MAKE A REQUEST

You connect to the Wi-Fi using your device.

Flow:
Your Device → Starlink Dish

2. SIGNAL TO THE SATELLITE

The dish sends your request up to the nearest Starlink satellite orbiting over 550 km above Earth.

3. SATELLITE TO GROUND STATION

The satellite transmits the request down to a Starlink ground station connected to the internet.

Flow:
Starlink → Ground Station → Internet

4. INTERNET RESPONSE

The ground station sends the data through the satellite.

5. BACK TO YOUR DISH

The satellite sends the data from the internet back down to your Starlink dish.

6. DELIVERED TO YOU

Your dish passes the data to the Wi-Fi router, and you get fast internet on all your devices.

Flow:
Dish → Wi-Fi Router → Your Devices

7. HANDOFF BETWEEN SATELLITES

As satellites move fast across the sky, your dish automatically connects to the next satellite—ensuring a seamless, continuous connection.

STARLINK SYSTEM COMPONENTS

* Starlink Dish
Automatically tracks satellites and maintains the best signal.
* Wi-Fi Router
Provides Wi-Fi coverage and connects your devices.
* Starlink Satellites
Thousands of LEO satellites work together as one network.
* Ground Stations
Connect the satellite network to the global internet.

WHY STARLINK IS DIFFERENT

* Operates in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for fast speeds and low latency.
* Global coverage, even in remote and rural areas.
* No dependence on local infrastructure.

KEY BENEFITS

* High-speed internet (up to 220+ Mbps).
* Low latency (20–40 ms).
* Works in remote locations.
* Supports streaming, gaming, and video calls.

WHERE IT WORKS

Starlink works almost anywhere on Earth, including:

* Rural Areas
* Mountains
* Islands
* Remote Regions

FUN FACT

Starlink has over 6,000 satellites in orbit, and the network continues to expand.
